The Politically Incorrect Show - 28/03/2000
[Music - Die Fledermaus]
Good afternoon, KAYA ORAAAA & welcome to the Politically Incorrect Show on the free speech network, Radio Pacific, for Tuesday March 28, proudly sponsored by Neanderton Nicotine Ltd, the show that says bugger the politicians & bureaucrats & all the other bossyboot busybodies who try to run our lives with our money; that stands tall for free enterprise, achievement, profit & excellence against the state-worshippers in our midst; that stands above all for the most sacred thing in the universe, the liberty of the human individual.
[Music up, music down!]
It's been a while since I told you an RMA story, an example of property rights violations under District Plans drawn up by local bodies in accordance with the Resource Management Act. I did warn you late last year when the former National Socialist administration passed amendments permitting spot fines for District Plan infringements that you could now be fined on the spot for trimming your trees, & sure enough a listener a couple of weeks back rang in to say he'd just been ordered to stop pruning branches by a roaming council bureaucrat, on pain of a fine.
A more traditional bureaucratic atrocity under the RMA is told in last week's edition of Rural News. According to reporter Adam Fricker, "On February 20, the Environment Court cancelled a resource consent granted to the owners of Pineridge Station that would have allowed the owners to clear 70-75ha of regenerating indigenous scrub & trees. The development was aimed to make the 450ha property economically viable by expanding the current 300ha of pasture. The consent was appealed by the Department of Conservation & the Royal Forest & Bird Protection Society on the grounds that the vegetation & habitat are 'significant' & that the conditions placed on the resource consent by the council would not control the adverse effects of the development."
So there you have it folks. Your Council effectively owns your land in the first instance, & if it should show any inclination to backslide & let you do what you want to do, those other eco-fascists, DOC & the Royal Forest & Bird Protection Society, will take over. A spokescreature for the latter is quoted as crowing that the court decision "sends a signal to landowners that there is no open season on clearing regenerating forest. The judge found that the economic arguments for development were not sufficient to outweigh the national interest in protecting regenerating forest in this largely deforested area. This is a good example of the RMA working to safeguard New Zealand's natural heritage."
Rubbish. It's a prize example of the RMA working against the rights of property owners in the name of a primitive mentality that worships nature as is where is - biodiversity it is now being called - & would forbid human beings to modify it. In this case it would appear that the owners of Pineridge must court unviability for the sake of birds & trees. Almost as bad is Federated Farmers' spineless acquiescence to the eco-fascism as long as farmers are paid compensation - i.e. taxpayer money - for being forbidden to develop their properties. Any lobby group for property owners worth its salt would be inciting riots over the virtual nationalisation of land that has occurred under the RMA & will be exacerbated by Environment Commissar Comrade Hobbs' newly-released biodiversity crapulence.
ACT's rural spokesman Owen Jennings is quoted in Adam Fricker's story as saying that "It has become too easy for well-meaning governments to interfere in the property rights of individuals. There is never a justification for such heavy-handed action by the state even in the name of preserving endangered species." No there isn't. But it's a huge mistake to think of the interference as well-meant. The watermelon socialists - green on the outside, red on the inside - are viciously anti-human at a most fundamental level. Some of them even want to see the elimination of human beings from the planet.
Next time you hear the Greenies saying someone's financial ruin & trampled prerogatives are of no consequence next to the preservation of wild nature on HIS property, ask yourself which species on earth is actually the most endangered?
