The Politically Incorrect Show - 19/05/2000
[Music - Die Fledermaus]
Good afternoon, KAYA ORAAAA & welcome to the Politically Incorrect Show on the free speech network, Radio Pacific, for Friday May 19, proudly sponsored by Neanderton Nicotine Ltd, the show that says bugger the politicians & bureaucrats & all the other bossyboot busybodies who try to run our lives with our money; that stands tall for free enterprise, achievement, profit & excellence against the state-worshippers in our midst; that stands above all for the most sacred thing in the universe, the liberty of the human individual.
[Music up, music down]
Today, a follow-up to my editorial on Tuesday, in which I responded to a Dutchman remonstrating with me about my "anger." An American visitor to my Free Radical web site, where my editorials are posted, read that one & sent me the following e-mail:
Lindsay,
Another issue that the Holland reader fails to address is simple: the government (mine [the U.S.] and yours [New Zealand]) holds all of the aces. It can bide its time, beat us down, and there's very little we can do about it. Your response -- getting angry -- is one; being a nice, civil guy -- his response -- is another.
Meanwhile, things keep getting worse (from a liberty point of view).
The government is STILL stealing a boatload of our money (fifty to sixty per cent in the States) and wants even more; STILL bombing the living daylights out of innocent civilians and wants to bomb others; STILL building bureaucratic bastions that may NEVER be undone; STILL taking people's property at a whim; STILL making new rules and regulations that can never be understood in our lifetime and wants to make more; STILL making themselves extremely comfortable (financially) with OUR money; and STILL lecturing us on how miserable we are as human beings because we don't "share" enough. [As an aside, each and every time I hear the namby-pamby, socialist word "share," used in the context of "telling," I projectile vomit. How about you?]
And the Holland listener has the AUDACITY to wonder why you are highly hacked off. So am I. And it's REALLY frustrating in that I can do nothing about it, other than scream into the wind.
Yes, I can try to argue effectively and accurately; yes, I can try to be a "reasonable" guy; and, yes, I can try to be "civilized."
And all the while, the government keeps on getting bigger and badder. "Mr. Holland" doesn't understand that sitting around being nice, even if you vocally disagree with the government, does nothing but keep the lunatics in charge of the asylum, and keeps their "take" of your money at its current larcenous pace, if not worse.
People in power do not willingly give it up -- it has to be taken away from them; hence the extreme need to disarm the general populace. You are on the correct path, albeit one which, in my opinion, is TOO nice. Keep up the good work and I do my damndest to get your word out here in The States.
Our libertarian writers are too bloody nice, "civilly" allowing the State to increase at its ever-increasing rate. They don't, as you do, get really worked up, letting the government know that it had better beware. We've gotten to the point where only a revolution can return liberty to the people.
Not ONCE in the past fifty years has the size of government gone down. Not ONCE! How long can we ignore the facts and live under the delusion that being witty and/or vocally angry will stop government in its tracks?
To which I can say only - the sender of this message may well be right, but a revolution requires anger as well. And the anger is building. If the upshot of this is a physical revolution, so be it. But a philosophical revolution will be necessary first for such a physical revolution to succeed. THAT is the task of this show.
