The Politically Incorrect Show - 22/12/2000

[Music - Die Fledermaus]

Good afternoon, Kaya Oraaa & welcome to the Politically Incorrect Show on the free speech network, Radio Pacific, for Friday December 22, proudly sponsored by Neanderton Nicotine Ltd., the show that says bugger the politicians & bureaucrats & all the other bossyboot busybodies who try to run our lives with our money; that stands tall for free enterprise, achievement, profit, & excellence, against the state-worshippers in our midst; that stands above all for the most sacred thing in the universe, the liberty of the human individual.

[Music up, music down!]

Here we are then - the final Politically Incorrect Show of the year. Some salutations of various kinds are in order today.

I want to thank Bernard Darnton, web master for my Free Radical site, for dutifully posting my editorials each day, & updating the site as each new hard copy of the magazine comes out. I want to thank all of you who subscribe to the magazine or buy it from the shops. It is New Zealand's only bugle of liberty, & your support is vital to its continuation. I want to thank the burgeoning army of freedom fighters who write for The Free Radical. I want to thank Radio Pacific for giving freedom a voice on the airwaves; it takes courage & imagination to make time for someone widely regarded as a lunatic! I want to thank Chris Gregory, our Programme Director, for being such a sweet, reasonable boss, for turning a deaf ear when I break format & naughtily slip in the odd bit of music from time to time! I want to thank Eugene, Phil & now Linzi, my producers over the past year, whose competence & professionalism, sometimes under extreme pressure, have made it all so easy for me. I want to thank those of you who have been so kind as to send me gifts & cards this Christmas. I want to thank all of you who have participated in the Show this year, whether it's been to agree with me or not - this is an all-talk network, of course, aside from my musical apostasies, & without you, we are nothing. I want to thank all who have listened but not phoned, & encourage you to call next year!

I want to congratulate Adrian & Chrissie Chisholm for their courageous, tenacious battle against the Auckland City Council, & Peter Cresswell, their "McKenzie friend" in court, who has also done an inspiring job as Libertarianz leader this year.

I want to send out special thoughts to my mum, who faces her first Christmas without Dad for 50 years. Her pain is intense, but she is brave & strong.

Last but not least, I want to urge all of you who believe in the cause of liberty not to get discouraged. Sometimes the battle seems hopeless, the culture of dependency & dictatorship too strong. But, to paraphrase Winston Churchill when HE faced seemingly unbeatable odds, we must never surrender. And we should ENJOY the battle. To quote Ayn Rand, he who fights for the future lives in it now. Let us carry the sacred torch of liberty aloft & ablaze into the New Year with renewed determination & optimism - for ours IS the future ... if we but fight for it.
