The Politically Incorrect Show - 23/03/2001
[Music - Die Fledermaus]
Good afternoon, Kaya Oraaa & welcome to the Politically Incorrect Show on the free speech network, Radio Pacific, for Friday March 23, proudly sponsored by Neanderton Nicotine Ltd., the show that says bugger the politicians & bureaucrats & all the other bossyboot busybodies who try to run our lives with our money; that stands tall for free enterprise, achievement, profit, & excellence, against the state-worshippers in our midst; that stands above all for the most sacred thing in the universe, the liberty of the human individual.
[Music up, music down!]
Yesterday I raised the subject of defence. I called our Prime Minister a traitor. I said our entire government should be indicted for treason, for allowing our defence capacity to atrophy to nothing. Every single caller agreed with me. Many wondered, though, if the situation could ever be retrieved, given the notorious apathy of the sheeple, whose only interest in life is their next welfare cheque. I'm afraid I can offer no reassurance on that score. If the following e-mail to me is any indication, even those who pay the cheques are indifferent:
Hi Lindsay
I caught the tail end of your editorial today concerning (I think) proposed tax changes in the USA. I have been out of the taxpaying workforce for six years, completing studies, and have been supported by my generous husband who pays approximately $40,000 a year Income Tax. When I add this to our rates of $1700/year, GST, car registration, etc., I wonder exactly how much money is being squeezed out of his annual income. It is also frustrating to think that when he goes to the doctor he is paying about $35 per consultation, and probably paying indirectly for, through taxation, some of the other patients and their children in the waiting room, as well as paying about $400/year for his own medical insurance because he knows that despite his considerable contribution to the public purse the availability of public health services is not assured ... yet despite this agonisingly depressing scenario he doesn't have a problem with this!!!
I tell you all this because it seems like such an uphill struggle when people like my husband, whose hard-earned income is being extorted from him in such large amounts, acquiesce so easily into being a servant of the state with a doormat mindset. He works approximately 3-4 months every year just to pay the state, and he is OK with this! I am loathe to label him as one of the "sheeple" because he is such a free thinker, but it staggers me when people like him can not see anything wrong with such a compulsionist, extortive regime. It doesn't sway my beliefs in Libertarianism, but I wonder just what it will take to shake such unswerving, indoctrinated, inculcated blind faith in our current political regime.
Perhaps it will take a revolution, and I am reminded of the words of Pierre Joseph Proudhon, although an anarchist, in General Idea of Revolution in the Nineteenth Century:
"To be governed is to be watched, inspected, spied upon, directed, law-driven, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, checked, estimated, censured, commanded, by creatures who have neither the right nor the wisdom nor the virtue to do so. To be governed is to be registered, counted, taxed, stamped, measured, assessed, licensed, authorised, admonished, prevented, forbidden, reformed, corrected, punished ... under the pretext of public utility and in the name of the general interest...to be exploited, monopolised, extorted from, squeezed, hoaxed, robbed; then, at the slightest resistance ... to be clubbed, disarmed, bound, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported ... that is government; that is its justice; that is its morality."
I would add to that only that that, by & large, is government as we know it, not government as it might be & ought to be. How do we get government as it might be & ought to be? It WILL take a revolution - inside people's heads, first & foremost. Ideas are our bullets - & it behoves each & every one of you to ask yourselves: what shots have YOU fired today?!
